It is not known whether constitutive expression of Fas ligand can cause a similar human disease. Four patients with aggressive large granular lymphocyte (LGL) leukaemia involving lung and liver were studied. All four patients were severely ill with pulmonary involvement.
Recent trials have shown that recombinant tissue plasminogen activator (rt-PA) is an effective thrombolytic agent in patients with acute myocardial infarction. Because Nike Air Max 90 rt-PA converts plasminogen to plasmin, which is known to activate complement in vitro, we tested the hypothesis that rt-PA can induce in vivo activation of complement. Studies were performed in 12 patients with acute myocardial infarction.
The Investment Model (IM; Rusbult, 1980, 1983) has been widely used to study the development and maintenance of romantic relationships. Its components--satisfaction, quality of alternatives, investment size and commitment--are operationalized in the Investment Model Scale (IMS; Rusbult, Martz, & Agnew, 1998). Given its importance for personal relationships literature, this article presents the adaptation and validation of the IMS to Portugal, and the development and validation of a shorter version, the IMS-S.
Without rigorous, robust, and detailed preclinical evaluation, it is unlikely that novel neuroprotective drugs will prove to be effective when tested in large, time-consuming, and expensive clinical trials. Additionally, similar recommendations are provided for drugs with the potential to enhance recovery after acute ischemic stroke, a burgeoning new field with great potential but little currently available data. The suggestions contained in this document are meant to serve as overall guidelines that must be adapted to the individual characteristics related to particular drugs and their preclinical and clinical Nike Jordan Air development needs..
A second approach, with potentially more radical implications, applies the methods of cross-cultural psychology to philosophical intuitions. Recent work in this area suggests that people in different cultures have systematically different intuitions surrounding folk concepts. A third strand of research explores the emergence and character of folk concepts in children.
BACKGROUND: The worldwide increase in type 2 diabetes mellitus is becoming a major health concern. We aimed to assess the effect of acarbose in preventing or delaying conversion of impaired glucose tolerance to type 2 diabetes.METHODS: In a multicentre, placebo-controlled randomised trial, we randomly allocated patients with impaired glucose tolerance to 100 mg acarbose or placebo three times daily. The primary endpoint was development of diabetes on the basis of a yearly oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT).
